YT’s New EP – Moment for Change
UK-based artist YT is humbled to present his new EP “Moment for Change”. It sees this seasoned Reggae/Dancehall trailblazer bring his sound, and message, bang up-to-date – while staying true to his own ‘roots’. The EP as a whole delivers a searing and poignant social narrative for our time. The six-track project sees YT, originally from the market town of Ipswich in England, expand his already broad sound even further. Moment for Change sees him and the Oneness team create a rich and technically impressive record that transcends traditional Roots Reggae.
The record is pure Oneness: multi-layered horns; whining electric organs; deep and driven basslines, and purposeful, technically deft drums. From Don’t Shoot’s brooding, unsettling Hip Hop vibe to the title track’s memorable Reggae sound and Apreshelove’s modern take on Lover’s Rock – Moment For Change offers an impressive and intricate diversity of sound. The EP takes the listener on a voyage of musical styles – with YT navigating a similarly eclectic path with his performances.
YT said of the EP: “Moment For Change” is a collection of songs that I have been working on for a while with the musical geniuses at Oneness. To make it a journey as a listening experience, we have a variety of styles and subjects across the six tracks. But overall, it is an optimistic yet urgent message for people who can see the current systems have failed for the majority, and to reinforce the idea that we need to find ways to avoid repeating some of the horrible mistakes we’ve made as a species.”
