WATCH: Dancehall Legend Spragga Benz Releases New Music Video For ‘King On The Throne’

FAIM Hub | December 21, 2019

Jamaican dancehall legend Spragga Benz just released a new video for one of his singles on the Chiliagon album, King on the Throne featuring English MC Rodney P.

Chiliagon was released late this year in September; it is produced by Easy Star/Buttercut Records and Red Square Productions and made the #1 Billboard Reggae Album.

This is considered a big deal in dancehall for several reasons, a few being — a. This is the first album from the ‘Machine Gun Kelly’ artiste in about 10 years, b. The album is actually good, which is a true testament to his greatness and c. A lot of his fans have been eagerly awaiting a comeback from the deejay, especially of his dominance.

King on the Throne along with other songs on the album like, Differ and If Yuh Ready featuring General Levy are remarkably trendy and hot. A commonality the songs share is extraordinary lyrics pulsation from a fresh beat mixed with the nostalgic style and vocals of Spragga Benz.

King on the Throne is Mr. Benz seamlessly demonstrating his indisputable position on one of the thrones in Reggae music (since there has to be several and not only one). “My lyrical skills will take a man for century to bill, so when I die maybe I’ll leave it to y’all in a will” he boasts in the song.

Spragga uses historical anecdotes to refer to him self, being the respected veteran that he is. “I’m like the great pyramids Ibiza, I’m like the sphinx, make you think may be I’m the piece missing from the link”. Also dropping crafty lyrics saying he’s just keeping it real while satisfying a yearning in the genre of music that perhaps only he can. “It’s a real deal, we satisfy yuh hunger like a meal deal, guarantee to hold yuh like a sign and seal deal,” he echoes in the chorus.

The less is more video is a simple choreography directed and co-edited by Masood Khan, shot by Ali Farahani, and co-edited by Steve Chappell. The video follows Spragga through the streets of London as two ornately masked men accompanies the deejay while carrying his throne.

King on the Throne is a masterful piece of work; the song is enlightening and magnetic, it’s sure to bring out a nice vibe when listening.
