Jambana One World Festival moves to Brampton Aug. 5 and 6
Festival moves indoors for 10th anniversary
Jambana, the annual August long-weekend reggae and roots festival, has loaded up the truck and is moving to Brampton from the Markham Fairgrounds on Aug. 5 and 6.
For its 10th anniversary, Jambana has not only moved cities but is also heading indoors.
“It is a big step for us to move Jambana from a big field (at the Markham Fairgrounds) to fully serviced indoor halls,” said Denise Jones, executive producer of Jambana One World Festival said in a press release.

“There are some huge pluses to this. We are moving to a city where we have produced a number of very successful reggae events,” Jones added. “Brampton has a real hunger for Jambana, and now that we are heading indoors, there is no need for people to drag along their lawn chairs and umbrellas to see the shows.”
On Aug. 5 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., Jambana presents the Reggae Ambassadors Third World Band and global dance hall sensation Govana, at the Rose Theatre. They are joined by Juno Award winners Kirk Diamond and Korexion, Juno Award nominee Jay Harmony, Montreal’s Kaisha Lee, Visionary, Tony Anthony, and the all-female reggae band Raysolution on the evening bill.
On Aug. 6 from 1 to 10 p.m. Ghana’s Grammy Award nominated afrobeat, dance hall and reggae maestro Stonebwoy are headlining the CAA Centre (formerly known as the Powerade Centre). They will be joined by Grammy Award nominees Luciano and Marion Hall (formerly Lady Saw), as well as Juno Award winner Exco Levi.
Launched in 2008, Jambana One World Festival is the Greater Toronto Area’s première one-of-a-kind music, arts and food festival celebrating the nation’s growing cultural diversity.
The two-day festival features reggae, afrobeat, soca, dance hall, gospel, and dance music along with Caribbean food, vendors and other Caribbean based activities. Both the Rose Theatre and the CAA Centre have a huge convention hall that provide seating and parking.

Both days and locations will feature activities, vendors and food, including the Domino Village, the Lick-a-Six Domino community tournament and the Food Village, featuring all the flavours and tastes of Jamaica, the Caribbean, Africa and more.
