Traditional Marriages : Ancestral Tradition
Traditional Wedding Rite of the Fang People of Gabon
Embracing our African historical cultures, old & new discoveries, achievements and eras as the proud people we are; absorbing all our rich cultures, traditions and enlightenment spanning many decades.
Traditional marriage is of great importance in Africa because it’s an ancestral tradition. Several protocols must be followed to have a successful marriage that is, above all, accepted by everyone.
The Fang People are the highly spiritual Bantu people of West Africa and the largest ethnic group in Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe. They are amalgamated Bantu-speaking people that forms a sub-set of the larger Beti-Pahuin ethnic group who inhabit the rain forest regions of Cameroon, south of the Sanaga River, the rain forests of the northern half of Gabon south to the Ogooué River estuary, Gabon, São Tomé and Príncipe and a small fraction in northwest of Congo-Brazzaville.
