This is video by INK TV came across my timeline and provided an interesting listen/watch as it relates to the “demise” of and some what “stagnation” of reggae music and the root cause why it’s not bigger on the world stage in some regard. Jamaica and Reggae experienced a big transition after the destabilization of the country. As guns flooded the island and profits from the cocaine trade skyrocketed, the music moved from a message of love and black liberation to songs of vanity and consumerism.
As the content of the music changed, the method of making the music changed. Producers were no longer using live musicians but computers resulting in a Digital Era.
