Ms. Lauryn Hill Designs & Stars in Her First Fashion Ad Campaign for Woolrich FW18
Ms. Lauryn Hill has signed on to be the face of Woolrich’s re-branded series, American Soul Since 1830, starring in the label’s FW18 campaign.
For the partnership, Hill created custom pieces for the collection, many of which reference her early start in music in her native New York. According to Brtish Vogue, Ms. Hill “came up with 30 jacket sketches,” and has been customizing her clothes for some time.
For example, the Silverton Coat features the album artwork from her critically acclaimed record The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, while the arctic parka features jeweling and text-prints on the shoulder pads and sleeves. Elsewhere the singer wears Woolrich’s trademark checks, workwear, denim, and outerwear pieces, revamped for Fall.
For the ad campaign, Hill worked with Rihanna’s longterm stylist Mel Ottenberg and photographer Jack Davison. The campaign sees the singer return to New York’s Washington Heights, as well as the Harlem theater where her video for “Doo Wop (That Thing)” was originally filmed.
Hill’s FW18 collection will soon be available in Woolrich stores across North America and Europe. Check out the official ad campaign below, featuring a stripped-down version of “Ex-Factor.”
